WESTGATE
LOFTS
Salt Lake City, Utah
Brief:
Nominated
for the Utah chapter of the American Institute of
Architects "People's Choice Award" for
excellence in design the Westgate Lofts project
Phase II in Salt Lake City's downtown Gateway Center
district is getting lots of attention.
Inside Job's Utah Regional Manager Philip Howland
was approached by the project's design and construction
team to create the kitchens for 17 new lofts. The
project challenge was to develop kitchen designs
using the IKEA AKURUM cabinet system to allow buyers
to customize their kitchens from a palette of IKEA
styles coordinated with the basic cabinet frame
system. Working together with the architects, construction
project manager, and project owners, Philip managed
all phases of the final design, ordering and installation
process.
The Inside Job installation
teams went the extra mile to develop numerous
custom solutions using standard IKEA components,
including the 24" Microwave
Oven base cabinet solution and custom IKEA Numerar
Birch wood countertop solutions.
Inside Job provided complete kitchen planning
and installation services in coordination with
the project's architect and general contractor
to create a buyer-customizable kitchen finish while
meeting the construction deadlines and necessary
certificate of occupancy requirements.
Completed in October 2008.
